The wait is over

12 11 2009

After 22 hours of loitering around the pet shop, I gave up on being around when the egg hatched and went off to find more herbs. I’d left off with 14k exp to a level, so I tried chaos druids. They still drop herbs frequently, just not the ones I wanted for a quick level. I broke down and made some of those recover special pots (super energy+papaya).

Yayness, I can make super prayer pots with some help from Greenman. :P I bought 1k wyvern bones and scrounged up 13 empty pots from my house. On my way to Yanille bank, I stopped to check the egg and viola! a second red hatchling! :D I let him tag along with me as I ground up the wyvern bones and made the super prayer pots in my house. Afterwards, I went fishing for sharks at the guild. I think I’ll keep them raw for bunyips.

ION, Jagex isn’t taking payment for membership. I’ve switched to a new card, but the system locks me out as it goes to a secure site. I have about 1 – 1 1/2 days of P2P left, so you may find me hanging in F2P on Monday. I’ll keep trying to get the site to load.

EDIT: w00t! Payment accepted!

Let’s go for a stroll

11 11 2009

Waiting for an egg to hatch is painfully annoying. I could go off and do other things, but I’ll be losing valuable growing time on my pet. BTW, I took out Pickles (the purple cat) and put Lil Red into the menagerie to test out getting a second dragon hatchling. The egg’s been in the incubator for 4 hours now. I’m too on edge to return to ranging, in case the egg hatches while I’m gone.

I have a message for Aximili E I – you are not alone.

No, I don’t plan on starting a Classic blog. :P

I hate me too

10 11 2009

You ever meet someone in RS and say that you hate them? I don’t mean “hate” as in mortal enemies, but “hate” as in someone earned/bought something you don’t have? I suppose an example would work better. Okay, I “hate” Timothy Gold’s determined training schedule and I “hate” Cookies Spam (Sparhawke Pa) for being an effective merchanter and I “hate” Teacuptime/Merch/Full of Pie for loving the hell out of construction. I don’t hate the person per se, but I hate a bit of their gaming ideology. I’m positive people hate me for having all these abyssal demon heads (or monster heads in general; sorry Merch).

So, I want to join the club of I Hate Kitt for Getting All Those Monster Heads and Abyssal Whips.

Lucky bitch, aren’t I?

Firstly, I didn’t think it was possible to get another dragon egg of the same color as a baby/hatchling dragon you already have in your bank. I thought I’d have to stuff Lil Red in the menagerie to get a second red dragon egg. Secondly, all I do to get these rare drops (besides killing) is wear a RoW.

I’m super curious now. If I put Lil Red in the house, can I incubate the new red egg and get a second baby red dragon? Well, I’d have to give up one of my hosue pets in order to find out. I really don’t want to because I’ve named them.

Sneaks

9 11 2009

After reading Merch’s blog, I decided to follow suit and get a slayer task from Lapalok. I wasn’t overly worried about getting something I didn’t want but that it would be something I could range. 184 aquanites, no problem. I read up on them and read a couple guides. Most dealt with melee, but since it was the same gear for both I went ready to range. I learned a bunyip doesn’t cut it for healing, so I went with a unicorn plus sharks. It was an interesting way to spend 3 hours and they weren’t crowded. I did get many seeds to plant and addy bolts to play with.

I went off to check out the new leprechaun “champion” and hopefully unlock the Victory Is Mine music. Well, that ddin’t happen. Instead it was a new music track and the leprechaun is a pushover (level 32).

I changed over my hair to the half up/half down style; what I call IRL as a half pony.

Question of the Day: am I the only one who thinks it’s about fucking time Falador got an altar/chapel? Really, the game’s been out for almost 10 years and one of the major cities does not have an altar? Now to just get one in Morytania, probably adjust the Ectofuntus to recharge prayer because who the fuck uses the nature altar in the swamp?

Anyway, I spent a couple hours with red drags to round up my range exp gained to 200k. It’s a pretty good place to range when you can use a pack yak to insta-bank for one hour and maybe, MAYBE you’ll come across one other player down there on a slayer task or getting the special tailbone for the rag man. My only worry is keeping myself occupied with Youtube (my channel music is getting lame, lol) or scumming /b/ for pics.

Lil Red

6 11 2009

Lil Red isn’t so little now, lol. He grew up in 11 hours of following me around. Must’ve been all those sharks I stufffed down his gullet; they do a dragon good. :P I fished 1,075 sharks during that 11 hours and cooked them up in Catherby.

Once I ran to you

5 11 2009

I was making abyssal titan pouches to get rid of those charms for good when I saw RS number one hunter:

Then I packed up and went under Brimhaven to range more red dragons. I met up with my summoning friend, who was also down there killing red dragons. He showed me his schmexy cape and we chatted a bit before he returned to the other side of the cavern. Things were going well. I was getting more kills than expected and felt very good about how things were going when I saw a “ruby” drop.

Anxiously, I hurried to fill my pack before leaving (yes, I want those hides) for the closest hatchery. Yanille, here I come. I placed the crimson-shelled egg into the incubator, noted the time (4:02p) and left to do …something. I admit, I kept returning every 5 minutes to see if it had hatched, but Jagex kept telling me to come back later.  It IS later, dammit, now gimme my frikkin’ egg! >:[ The game is conspiring against me. How long does it take anyway? Someone must know. The absolute best estimate came from RS Wiki, which said it may take 30 minutes to 12 hours for an egg to hatch. Oh fuck me! I can’t be waiting all day for this baby dragon. Fine, whatever. I’ll go do something constructive but don’t think I won’t be keeping an eye on this pet shop.

Woodcutting looked good. There’s ivy on Yanille’s north wall. Oh goody, there are already 4 people cutting it. Think, Kitt, what can you do quickly that can be easily interrupted to check on the egg? Oooo, runecrafting. I haven’t done that in a really long time and I can use more laws and bloods. I did that for an hour, checking the egg every 20 minutes. At 5:40p, I check the incubator and poof, there’s a baby red dragon in my lap.

We toddled off to the fishing guild where I would catch sharks while Lil Red watched the ducks in the water. He’d get very excited at seeing free food and would attempt to dive into the water to nibble the ducks. I’d catch him and tuck him under my arm like a rugby ball. His butt wiggles when he’s desperate for a swim, so I knelt on the docks and carefully leaned him over the edge. He’ll chomp on a duck or ducklings passing beneath us, then growl fiercely and make me laugh. :)

While fishing, a pmod started talking and got many poking at him/her about how s/he got to be a mod and working for Jagex. This line slipped in unnoticed expect by me:

Fire when ready

4 11 2009

Anyway, as I said, I went ranging different monsters to see a) what grabbed my attention, b) gave a balance of exp vs. drops and 3) wasn’t overly crowded. Would you be surprised that the answer is red dragons? I figured out a neat system for training down in the bowels of Brimhaven, with much thanks to Tazlike for telling me to bury the damned bones. :P   BTW, I bought 3k broad bolt tips and fletched them into proper bolts to use rather than bone bolts. The drops make up for the cost of buying the tips. I take a pack yak and about 150 winter storage scrolls, plus 30 casts of high alchemy for miscellaneous weapons like mith 2 handers and rune long swords. When my inventory is full of hides, I cast winter storage and send them to the bank. I spent a couple hours down there tonight (no egg, but I’m crossing my fingers). The long-distance maths suggest I can get 99 range by the end of December by firing pokey bits into 250 big red lizards every day (except the weekends). Tentatively t here may be a drop party; I’m trying to collect and keep all the range items dropped like darts, javalins and arrows. I’m collecting the hides, too, so if you are desperate for red dhide, I can do something about that.

I did something stupid. I went player killing. Well, technically I’d call it player dying since that’s all I did. I lost a few sets of black dhide, all my ice gloves and dds, a chompy hat and various achievement diary items. I camped out  at the ice queen, who is not so tough these days rofl, flaying her open 15 times (all the open space in my pack). I refound all my replaceable gear like the prayer books and that. I also headed out to the Wildy for green dragon slaying AND I wore real combat gear! The point of these 2 adventures was to tick them off my achievements list on Runewise.

I found all the pumpgiuns this morning and threw the exp into runecrafting.

Such a pinch

3 11 2009

It’s been 8 1/2 months since my last level up in hunter. The improvements to II better be more exp per impling.

I got enough grenwall spikes to finish making my extreme ranging pots. I’m not looking forward to training hunter up to 90, but I know I will just to find out what Runewaise calls me with 90+ skills. :) Oh, someone sold me 1k limps the other day via the GE, so thanks!

Finally a range level, lol. Greaters are getting on my nerves, so I’m on the lookout for something better (ie: more exp, better drops) to range for the 99 trip. Debating on blue dragons or nechs though any dragons would make me bank more often (or use up all my pack yaks for bank scrolls). I’ve tried using red chins on the chaos tunnel mummies and Ape Atoll monkeys, neither were worth the money spent on the chins. I wish abyssal demons were faster exp as they give me exactly what I want in terms of exp *and* drops. I even tried ranging skeletal wyverns last night and turned out to be a bust. Bone bolts don’t cut it. :P I guess I’ll be picking a few likely candidates this week for exp per hour vs. money made on drops. Ones that are in my head atm are: nechs at the slayer tower, elves at Lletya, bloodveld under Meierditch.

I got invited to an aquaintance’s 99 summoning party on Thursday. He wants me to bring a steel titan and scrolls, so I went off to make those. Ok, after I mined iron and made a bunch of steel bars. :P I pouched all but my blue charms. The bars were fun for the first 200, but I decided to buy steel plates off the GE (only 1k each!). I spent time picking out an outfit to wear that isn’t n00by. The combat will be taken care of with range gear, so here’s praying for no weird house glitches.

I stopped at the fishing guild to lure some sharks. I wish now I hadn’t cooked all the extra big sharks I’d caught years ago. Who knew I’d have multiple skill halls?

That piece of halibut was good enough for Jehovah!

2 11 2009

When I logged in, I had the best of intentions of ranging things. I thought to kill some skeletal wyverns since I’ll need the bones for those super prayer pots. I went to grab some range pots when I remembered I’d promised to go hunting because no one in RS has any grenwall spikes. Putting my range gear away, I clicked on a tele crystal to Lletya. I grabbed some box traps and papayas and ran down to the magic trees, which is my usual pawya hunting spot. Pawyas are easier to capture now and their cuteness forgives the fruit stealing. When I’d gotten 100 pawya meats, I went in search of grenwalls south of the elf camp. Now grenwalls are the red chins of high level hunting. Both are cheeky, bait stealers but I can kill the red chins when they push my pissed off meter to overload. Not so with grenwalls (the bastards). Most of the time, my traps would collapse in a heap and the pawya meat would need a good dusting off before setting the whole thing again. I did my best, even setting traps on top of pawya and grenwalls to make it easier for them.

I did get some caught and dutifully crushed the spikes into my ranging pots. I felt bad because while I was doing this, a guy asked me for some grenwall spikes and I lied about having any. I managed to turn half my ranging into extreme ranging pots. It won’t be much longer to hunt grenwalls though.

After this, I found a clue scroll kicking around my bank and went off to do that in the dire hopes of getting something “good”. The first clue took me just south of Legends, then the next took me to the fishing guild. It was that one: Blow a raspberry in the fishing guild. Beware of double agents. Equip a rune warhammer, elemental shield and blue dhide chaps. There’s not any real danger providing I throw up protect from melee prayer, so I equipped the warhammer, chaps and shield without changing my gears (chompy hat, agile top, spottier cape and boots of lightness). I stop by the bank stalls, perform the emote and start thumping the double agent when Donnor 3 pipes up and the follow conversation ensues:

I’m sure he thinks I lied about my prayer level, maybe going so far as to check me on the hiscores. Being spiteful, I hope he reads this blog and sees what an asshole he is. I don’t need strangers in game telling me how to play RS. I understand the game quite well after 4 years and if there’s something I don’t know, I research it on the 5 fansites’ forums I hang out in.

When the Hurley-burley’s done

30 10 2009

I started making some of the new potions today since I can’t buy Zammy wine in bulk anymore. I’m making the extreme set even though it’s a pain to pick up all the ingredients again. The only fun one to make is extreme attack because of the noted newt eyes from CC. It can be tetchy though, so bring extra unnoted items that make the creations (in my case newt eyes). I’d initially brought 1 newt eye and 20 feathers and the first newtroost dropped 5 noted newt eyes. Well, I learned and brought 30 feathers and 10 unnoted newt eyes next time and ended the day with 300+ newt eyes. The super antifires were fun and the most time consuming. I hit Nardah and paid to get my 4 dose pots returned to 3 dosepots. BTW, it’s 50 gp for the inventory. Then it was 3 hours yoinking tail feathers out of the desert phoenix’s ass. During one trip, I saw someone just standing at the clay mine. It’s very odd to mine clay in the desert when you can do it in safer places. I finally noticed the big black rock in front of her as a fallen star. I got my adze and started chipping away at it.

The extreme strength and defense are the annoying pots because I have to get the limpwurt roots and whiteberries. I’d dumped my stocks over a year ago because I never made super sets (only used them for Dream Mentor). So it’s a slow regathering from the shrubs and ranging cockatrices in the slayer caves. Maybe I’ll get a cockatrice head for my troubles. They don’t drop limps often enough for me. I’d farm limps except I’ve got those lily flowers in all 4 flower patches which are keeping watch over strawberries and watermelons.

Next week I’ll be hunting pawyas and grenwalls. Everyone’s hoarding grenwall spikes too.
